CSIS Technical Advisor Jobs – Description
Job Summary
- Plan and provide guidance on the execution of assigned development activities.
- Design and implement solutions including system/software and associated infrastructure to support project requirements.
- Lead and coordinate project resources.
- Identify evolving business requirements and establish plans for future technical capabilities.
- Develop and implement systems integration strategies.
- Develop detailed technical specifications for system / solution design.
- Liaise with clients to assess and propose options to address business requirements.
- Participate on departmental, interdepartmental, national or international technology working groups.
- Maintain knowledge of trends and developments in software and systems design and in project management and implementation techniques and practices.
Education
- Undergraduate degree* and three (3) years of relevant experience**
- Technologist diploma* or Professional technologist equivalency designation and four (4) years of relevant experience**
- College diploma* and six (6) years of relevant experience**
- Secondary school diploma and seven (7) years of relevant experience**.
The successful applicant will be required to meet certain pre-determined post-secondary educational requirements within a specified time frame.
*Education: Computer science, electrical engineering, electronics, network security, telecommunications, or engineering.
The educational program must be from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada.
If you completed a program outside of Canada you will be required to obtain proof of a Canadian equivalency at your expense through a recognized credential assessment service.
Note: Any higher level of education could be recognized as experience.
Experience
Stream 1:
**Relevant Experience is defined as experience working in an IT environment where the incumbent’s responsibilities include two of the following:
- Providing end user support in a multi-system environment
- Building and maintaining effective relationships or partnerships for the purposes of delivering projects or services
- Managing or developing processes, procedures and/or standards related to IT systems, applications, databases and/or infrastructure
- Working with enterprise IT service management tools and technologies (e.g. ServiceNow)
Candidates must also possess recent1 experience in all of the following:
- Experience in researching, analyzing and recommending current trends, standards, practices and/or products, such as ITIL methodologies, in an IT environment.
- Experience in extracting, consolidating and integrating data from various sources for the purposes of generating reports for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience analyzing requirements and/or providing advice and guidance on IT matters to various audiences such as clients and management.
- Experience working in a client service environment and in dealing directly with employees of different levels

Stream 2:
**Relevant Experience is defined as recent1 and significant2 experience in designing, implementing, operating, configuring or troubleshooting in a multi-system traditional data centre or private/public cloud environment, any two (2) or more of the following:
- Directory services (Active Directory, Active Directory Federation Services, Azure Active Directory)
- Server hardware
- Server operating systems
- Backup/restore systems
- Enterprise storage (SAN) hardware
- Storage fabrics (iSCSI or Fiber Channel)
- Disaster recovery, high-availability, or business continuity technologies and infrastructures
- Cloud infrastructure (Infrastructure as a Service) or server virtualization technologies
- Server middleware applications (IIS, Apache, Java Runtime Environments)
- Microsoft end devices Management tools( for ex. SCCM, GPO Policies, InTune, etc)
- Identity Management – (PAM, MFA, Access Management , PKI)
- Monitoring of systems and applications
In addition to the above criteria, candidates must possess experience in the following:
- Experience in analyzing requirements and/or providing advice and guidance on IT matters to various audiences such as clients and management.
- Experience as a participant in the development of policies, processes, procedures and/or standards related to IT systems and/or infrastructures.
1Recent experience is defined as experience acquired within the last seven (7) years.
2Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience that would normally be acquired by a person in a position where the performance of these duties constitutes his or her main functions over that period of time.
Stream 3:
**Relevant Experience is defined as significant2 experience in installing and troubleshooting LAN connectivity network equipment (routers, switches, firewall, load balancers) or IT security infrastructure (IPS, IDS, Anti Malware, VA testing) across multiple sites in a traditional data centre or private/public cloud environment.
In addition to the above requirement, candidates must possess a minimum of two (2) years of recent1 experience in the installation, configuration and support in any four (4) of:
- LAN/WAN equipment (switches and routers)
- Firewalls
- Enterprise Anti Malware solutions
- Network packet capture solutions
- Web Filtering Gateway solutions
- Web Proxy Servers
- DLP solutions
- Network Load Balancing solutions
- IDS/IPS solutions
- Network Monitoring solutions
- Virtual Private Network solutions
